Math Engagement Workshop!

Get the strategies you need to increase engagement of your students who struggle most with 6th-12th grade mathematics so you can feel more fulfilled and confident in your ability to reach all students.

I want to increase engagement!

90 minute LIVE virtual workshop so you can participate, ask questions, and decide which strategies work best for you.

Experience 6 strategies that will stop the crickets and increase engagement in your 6th-12th grade math class.

Walk away with immediately applicable activities to build a math classroom culture that motivates and engages ALL students.

If you’re a 6th-12th grade math teacher or special education teacher who has students “below grade level” in your classes… welcome, teacher friend!

Workshop outcomes:

  • During the 90 minute LIVE virtual workshop you’ll participate in and experience 6 strategies that will engage students in 6th-12th grade mathematics for in-person, virtual, or hybrid settings.
  • Each strategy will be demonstrated with culture building / non-math examples first (so we keep that math anxiety low), then used with math content.
  • Teachers will walk away with a deep understanding of how to facilitate these strategies with their students and why they are so effective in increasing engagement amongst their students who struggle.

The strategies I'll be sharing will empower you to...

✔️ Get students to feel comfortable talking in the classroom with their peers
✔️ Help 6th-12th grade students who struggle have a more positive relationship with math
✔️ Make math approachable for ALL students

Can’t attend live?

Attending live will be the best way to experience these strategies, but I understand that things come up. You’ll have access to the recording on our workshop website for 10 days so you can watch when you have time.

I understand how it feels to have the kids in the back of your classroom with their hoodies on and their earbuds in. The kids who rarely attend, and when they do, they don't participate in your lesson. I also understand the deep desire to want more from these students. To so badly want them to succeed in your math class this year.

Hey, I’m Juliana Tapper from CollaboratEd!

I taught the high school math support and Algebra 1 class in South Central LA, East San Jose, and Denver before leaving my classroom in 2018 to become an independent math intervention specialist for CollaboratEd and provide teachers the support and resources I wish I had gotten. Since launching CollaboratEd I’ve provided over 90 workshops to over 1200 secondary math teachers through my work with client schools, districts, and state departments of education and national conferences like NCTM.

I’ve taken all of this experience and planned a LIVE virtual workshop specifically for 6th-12th grade math teachers who work with students who struggle, happening this summer!

This workshop is for you if..

✔️ You like professional development that lets you see and experience strategies in action rather than just be told about them

✔️  You're looking for strategies specifically for 6th-12th grade students who have struggled with math (intervention, remedial, SPED, etc)

✔️  You like practical strategies that you can use tomorrow in your classroom

That's me!

The last few years have been tough for teachers.

The constant switching of virtual, in person, and hybrid learning environments has greatly disrupted our usual systems.

I strongly believe that our focus for Fall 21-22 should be on helping students enjoy mathematics and enjoy being in our math classrooms again, regaining a sense of normalcy and belonging.

The key to this will be engagement.

Here's how it works...

Register

Register for the LIVE virtual Math Engagement Workshop on June 17th or July 12th. Once you register you’ll get access to our workshop website with the zoom link for the live workshop.

I want in!

Attend

Attend live for the best experience, however I know things come up. You’ll have access to a recording of the workshop for 10 days after the live recording on our workshop website.

Implement

Implement the strategies. The most common piece of feedback I get from teachers is how “immediately applicable” all of the strategies are.

If you’re ready to stop feeling frustrated with low student engagement and start feeling more fulfilled and confident in your ability to reach all students effectively…

you cannot miss this!

I'm ready to register!

About the facilitator...

Juliana Tapper is an experienced high school math support and Algebra 1 teacher and co-teacher having taught and led departments and PLC teams at high schools in South Central Los Angeles, East San Jose, and Denver. She also served as a district math coach and TOSA where she led professional development for math and special education teachers across thirteen urban high schools. Frustrated with the lack of support, resources, and quality professional development for math teachers that work with students below grade level, she founded CollaboratEd Consulting LLC in 2018 and has provided high quality PD for over 1200 secondary math teachers and partnered with urban schools, rural districts, and the Colorado Department of Education.  Her work has been published in NCTM's journal, Mathematics Learning & Teaching, and she is an in demand presenter at national and state conferences including NCTM Annual, CMC North, Colorado Alternative Education Conference, and others.
